Couples, friends, or individuals looking for a unique way to celebrate Valentine’s Day or who just want to learn about ceramics can participate in the Date Night Ceramics Workshop, a hands-on pottery experience open to all ages from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 13 and 3-5 p.m. Feb. 15 in the Technical Building, room T-151.

High school seniors interested in auditioning for vocal ensembles or instrumental ensembles and learning about scholarship opportunities in music for the 2025-2026 season are encouraged to sign up for one of Barton’s “Music Scholarship Days” from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 15 or March 8.
Barton’s Shafer Art Gallery will unveil “Executive Collection,” a unique exhibit with pieces personally selected from the Barton Community College Foundation Permanent Fine Art Collection by Barton President Dr. Marcus Garstecki and his wife Kacie, which will include an opening reception at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 31.
Anyone who lives in Kansas quickly learns that the weather can go from serene to severe in minutes, and the Barton STEM club is bringing a host of professionals together to talk about tornadoes, thunderstorms, and everything in between at the “Exploring our Weather Systems” event from 12:30-3 p.m. Feb. 22 in the Math and Science Building, room S-118.
The Barton Community College Fine and Performing Arts department honored its rich artistic legacy last month during the Holiday Concert with the inaugural induction of four influential faculty members into the newly established Fine and Performing Arts Hall of Fame.
Music enthusiasts and piano students are in for a treat as piano professors Dr. Christina Liu and Dr. Brett Janssen from Bethel College and Central Christian College respectively, will present a masterclass at 4 p.m. in the Chapel in the Fine Arts Building followed by a piano recital at 7 p.m. Feb. 1 in the Fine Arts Auditorium.
The Barton Community College Library will team up with the English department and Barton’s literary annual “Prairie Ink” staff to host a writing workshop from 6-7:30 p.m. Jan. 23 in the in the Barton Library in the Cavanaugh Room.
Barton will host its tenth annual Career Technical Education Fair for students grades 8-12 to learn about different career options on Friday, Feb. 7, and it will feature demonstrations, hands-on activities, and refreshments.
Barton Theatre will be holding auditions for the spring play “Student Directed One Acts.” All roles and technical positions will be cast.
