The Barton Community College Music Department is excited to announce the spring 2018 musical, “Curtains,” a mystery comedy with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb who wrote music for the highly acclaimed shows “Cabaret” and “Chicago”.
The musical is set during 1959 in Boston, Mass. at a theatre where police detective Frank Cioffi attends the opening night of a musical when during the curtain call the star of the show, Jessica Cranshaw, is murdered. It is up to Cioffi to solve the case and save the show.

Barton Community College Voice Instructor Glenna Gaunt entered eight of her voice students in the Tabor Voice Festival Saturday, October 28 in Hillsboro. The vocal competition included the divisions of high school freshmen and sophomores, high school juniors and seniors, and college freshmen and sophomores, with the category of either classical or musical theatre. Students were required to perform one memorized song in either of the disciplines.

Academics Month 2017

Barton Community College, Ellsworth Correctional Facility (ECF) and the Kansas Department of Corrections highlighted the success of about 140 inmates who have taken the initiative to pursue their educations while incarcerated at the 13th Annual Learning Celebration on November 2 at Ellsworth Correctional Facility.

Barton Community College will be closed for Thanksgiving break Wednesday, Nov. 22, through Friday, Nov. 24. The college will resume its regular schedule on Monday, Nov. 27.

Barton Community College’s Prairie Winds Concert and Jazz Bands will present a winter-themed concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16 in the Fine Arts Auditorium. The band will be performing music from various artists with Christmas music and songs of winter.

On January 8, 2018, Scales Technician classes will begin as Barton Community College launches its newest program. The program is completed in one semester of vigorous training and preparing students for the weights & measures industry upon completion.

Midwest Energy, Inc. made its first donation to the Barton Community College Foundation in support of the Academic Enrichment Fund Campaign 30 years ago. The Foundation once again received the annual donation like clockwork. Since September of 1987, Midwest Energy, Inc. has contributed more than $71,000 for scholarships, program development and advancement at Barton Community College.
