Barton Community College’s 50th commencement will be held virtually this year. Students and their friends and families are invited to view videos of the commencement speeches and a reading of graduate names, which will premiere at 8:30 a.m., May 8.

The Barton Fine Performing Arts Department would like to invite high school seniors with an interest in dance, instrumental music, theatre and vocal music to apply and audition for 2020-2021 Performance Awards, Major Scholarships and performance ensembles via virtual auditions from 4-8 p.m., May 12.

Barton Community College is slashing prices on online courses for its summer sessions for Kansas High School students and graduating seniors from $150 to the face-to-face price of $114. That’s a savings of 24 percent per credit hour. Career technical education (CTE) courses are still being offered at no tuition charged for high school students through a state program called Excel in CTE.

Barton Theatre Director Miller James hails from California and has acted professionally in a variety of settings and is now using some of his contacts to liven up his classes now that they are being delivered virtually. His acting students will have the pleasure of hearing from two professional voice-over (VO) actresses, Amanda Terman and Corina Boettger this week.
